Hello Namasthe – When Bhavana and team bonded over food!
What happens when a group of people having similar taste buds come together to make a movie? They would eat, drink and make merry!
That’s exactly what transpired on the sets of Jayan K Nair’s upcoming film Hello Namasthe which has Vinay Forrt, Bhavana, Sanju Sivram and Miya in the star cast. “We realised that nothing bonds people better than food,” says Sanju.
The movie’s theme itself provided the perfect ‘starter’ for the group with Bhavana playing a baker. “The set was always stocked with varieties of cakes—from red velvet to butterscotch to vanilla! I have never had so much cake in my life,” says the actor. “Even when Bhavana was done with her baking scenes, there would be someone’s birthday or wedding anniversary. Else, we would find a random reason to celebrate and order cakes.”
Their love for food was such that the new group of friends that also include Joju George and Soubin Shahir didn’t mind distances, if they could get their hands on a unique dish to relish.
“Our gourmet team was led by cinematographer P Sukumar. Once someone got to know that there was a food joint somewhere, we would leave for it at a second’s notice,” he says. “We had been to the outskirts of Munnar, Muvattupuzha and Ernakulam. Initially, the trips served as ice-breakers during the breaks. Later, we all started looking forward to them,” he narrates.
After exhausting their options outside, the team started bringing homemade delicacies on the set. “Soubin bought lip-smacking irachi choru and other non-vegetarian dishes from his house. Miya’s mom cooked mouth-watering kappa, fish and pork.”
He also shares that Bhavana was initially very moody as she joined the sets soon after her father’s demise. “The food trips sort of had a calming effect on her. She was silent for the first few trips, but later we realised that she is the biggest foodie among us!” he says. “Food became our main discussion topic.”
Sanju and Vinay will be seen playing radio jockeys in the movie and Miya and Bhavana will be their partners, respectively. “Shooting for Hello Namasthe was an unforgettable experience, thanks to the food and company,” Sanju says.
