Ilayathalapathy Vijay ‘s ‘Theri’ Breaks The Box Office Record Held By Thala Ajith’s Vedalam!

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s latest release Theri is busy breaking box office records within 48 hours from the time of its release. We had earlier reported about the movie’s box office collections and how it created a new record in North America by collecting a whopping $251,123 from just its premiere shows.

Now, the latest record this Vijay starrer has broken had previously belonged to Thala Ajith’s Vedalam. Yes, Theri has broken a box office record that was so far held by the Ajith starrer. “#Theri has Crossed #Vedalam First Day Collection In Our Theater !! Ram Muthuram Cinemas, located at Tirunelveli is said to be an important entertainment centre for movie buffs and fans in and around Tirunelveli district, South Tamil Nadu. With most of the shows already booked, Theri is expected to mint money throughout the weekend all over Tamil Nadu and in some of the neighbouring states. Directed by Atlee and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, Theri stars Amy Jackson, Samantha, baby Nainika, Prabhu, Raadhika Sarathkumar, J Mahendran and ‘Mottai’ Rajendran in prominent roles. Meanwhile, Theri has also managed to break the box office record of Vikram’s magnum opus I, according to a report. It is said that the Atlee directorial overhauled the first day box office collections of I in Chennai. Interestingly, Atlee was working as an assistant under director Shankar, the film-maker who had helmed I. At this rate, Theri is all set to break many other box office records in Tamil Nadu. Having said that, it has to be seen how the film fares in the all important second week, which is considered as an acid test to any movie.
