A journey From Mechanic to a Super star: Ajith
Today, he is one of the biggest stars of Tamil Nadu, with an absolute potential of becoming the biggest star in a few years from now. But if you can turn the clock back in time, 30 years before, he was just a wandering boy, with little or no idea about surviving on one of the most difficult planets in the universe.
Ajith had dropped out of his school. Thanks to his passion towards bikes, cars and races, he took up a job as a mechanic. An aspiring racer, the Mankatha star had no option but to take up small time jobs to support his career in racing, and one such job he took up was modelling.
At the age of 18, he started appearing in press ads and occasional TV commercials. His passion firmly on racing, He worked hard to make both ends meet and support his racing career as well. While taking part in a motorcycle race, He injured himself, making several business agencies push him into modelling for advertisements in print media.
When he had to choose between his passion and movies, His chose the latter as it was providing him with food and shelter. Making his acting debut in the role of a school kid in En Veedu En Kanavar, the 20-year-old His was then selected to play an important role in a Telugu flick. However, the project was stalled, making He to rethink about his career. Fortunately, a year later, he got another opportunity to star in a Telugu film Prema Pustakam, his first and only direct Telugu flick till date. In 1993 he was selected to play the male lead in Amaravathi, which was directed by Selva. The rest, as they say is history.
