Prithviraj’s Karnan to have an animated avatar
Following the likes of Bajirao Mastani and Star Wars, Prithviraj’s Karnan will have an animated version as well. This will also be the first time that a Malayalam superstar will be lending his voice to a full-length graphic version of a film.
The animated movie will have the exact story of the film based on the titular character and warrior from Mahabharatha, informs R S Vimal, its director. “Prithviraj who plays Karnan and the other cast members will be dubbing for their characters in the animated film as well,” he explains.
“The digital story board for Karnan is almost ready and so we decided to make an animated version of the movie first. This would also serve as a template for the mega-budget film, which we hope to start shooting by the end of this year,” says the Ennu Ninte Moideen filmmaker. Vimal and his team have already started working on the graphic version. “The animation team is working from Hyderabad and Chennai. As Karnan is a historical movie, it requires a huge chunk of visual effects. Such a graphic movie will make it easy for the cameraman, artistes and other technicians to visualise exactly what we are trying to achieve,” he says.
While Bajirao Mastani had a prequel web series titled Blazing Bajirao, the Mollywood filmmaker says that the graphic version of Karnan will be released after the feature film hits the theatres. It will be released on the small screen and as DVDs.
