Shweta Menon is playing a man in her next film
aslimmed-down Shweta Menon had been spotted at events of late, but the actress never commented on what she was losing weight for; whether it was for a movie or not. News has also been doing the rounds that Shweta Menon will be seen playing a man in an upcoming film of hers, directed by Ranji Lal Damodaran. When contacted, Shweta Menon denied any connection between her weight loss and her new film, but did confirm that she is indeed playing a man in her next film, which has been titled Naval Enna Jewel. “It is true that I am playing a man, and I am the hero of the film,” she said. “My co-stars are Adil Hussain, Reem Kadem and other actors of international repute. They have a different way of approaching their roles, and it’s something different and definitely challenging,” says Shweta Menon.
Though Shweta Menon refused to reveal anything more about her character, reports say that the story revolves around the struggles of an Iranian girl born to an Indian mother and will be shot in Oman. However, it’s not clear whether the actress will play a man or will be dressed as one. The movie will be made in Malayalam, Englsih and Iranian.
An excited Shweta says, “I am going as a student to the film’s sets. I want to learn on the way, as it is totally different from what I am doing right now. But to be honest, I am very nervous too. Once I’m done with the film, I might have a lot to talk about.”
