Sudev Nair to play a student leader in debutante Jeevan Das’ movie

Within a short span of time, State Award winning actor Sudev Nair proved that he is not an artiste who follows the crowd and does run-of-the-mill roles.
The actor, who has just wrapped up shooting for Karimkunnam Sixes in which he plays a prisoner-cum-volley ball player, will next be seen as a student leader in debutante Jeevan Das’ movie, Campus Diary.
Director Jeevan says, “The film is a social drama with a good portion of it happening in a college campus. Sudev’s character Nikhil discontinues his studies in Bangalore to join a college in Kerala as a second year post graduation student. The story is about what happens after he joins the college. Nikhil is quite involved in extracurricular activities and as part of an NSS camp, he goes to a village, the ensuing events form the plot.” Leona Lishoy and Kinterum Joyeem fame Samyukta are the movie’s leading ladies. Vinish Palayad scripts Campus Diary, which has newbie Premanand cranking the camera.
Sudev who is quite excited to play Nikhil says, “Nikhil wants to bring about social changes. He is a modern personality, but comes across as someone with no interest in external appearances.” Apparently, the character also has a humorous side in the film. “I am quite serious in real life and have so far done only soft-spoken characters in the big screen. But on stage, I am used to doing humour. I have also been a huge fan of actors like Rowan Atkinson and have also tried similar impersonations while at school. I’m glad that such an offer has come my way from the Malayalam industry and am thrilled to try out humour on big screen.” The film’s shoot will begin on April 21 and Kannur is its prominent location.
Campus Diary’s star cast includes RJ Mathukutty, Joy Mathew, actress Ananya’s brother Arjun, Sunil Sukhada, Thalaivasal Vijay, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Marimayam Sreekumar, Lakshmi Priya, Mamukkoya and Kottayam Nazeer. The film’s music is by Bijibal and Rafeeq Ahammed pens its songs.
